The renal protective efficacy of ketamine vs. propofol vs. ketofol against renal ischemia / reperfusion injury: An experimental rat study

نویسندگان

چکیده

The purpose of this study was to investigate the renal protective efficacy propofol, ketamine, and ketofol in an ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) model experimentally induced rats. Thirty-five male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into five groups: sham (Group 1), control 2), ketamine 3), propofol 4), 5). Following administration intramuscular hydrochloride anesthesia, left hilum exposed 60-minutes clamping. Ketamine 5) administered 15 min prior reperfusion. After six hours reperfusion, kidneys harvested for histological scoring. Mean histopathology scores 0.42±0.53 group 1 (Sham), 2.97±0.21 2 (Control), 2.68±0.15 3 (Ketamine), 2.40±0.16 4 (Propofol), 2.51±0.22 5 (Ketofol). score (Propofol) significantly lower than those groups (control) (Ketamine) (P=.002 P=.0120, respectively), but did not differ from that (Ketofol) (P=.347). compared (P=.006), no significant difference determined with Group (P=.137). No also observed between (P=.021). results indicated superiority over or against IRI. However, effect IRI greater ketamine.

The protective activity of noscapine on renal ischemia–reperfusion injury in male Wistar rat

Objective(s):Bradykinin is a part of the kinin-kallikreinsystem which is involved in ischemia-reperfusion injury via B1 and B2 receptors.Noscapine is a non-competitive antagonist of bradykinin receptors. Noscapine has been reported to to be able to protect some organs against ischemia-reperfusion injury but its effect on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (RIR) in rats is unknown. Therefore, the...

Amelioration of rat renal ischemia/reperfusion injury by L-Nil

Introduction: Ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury involves a complex interrelated sequence of events. High levels of nitric oxide (NO) are generated with inducible form of nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) leading to the renal IR injury and glutathione (GSH) depletion. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of L-Nil (N6- (1-Iminoethyl)-L- lysine.hydrochloride), a selective inhibito...

Protective Effects of Hydrocortisone, Vitamin C and E Alone or in Combination against Renal Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rat

Background: Renal ischemia reperfusion injury may occur in a variety of clinical situations, following a transient drop in total or regional blood flow to the kidney. This study was performed to investigate the protective effects of different antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, hydrocortisone and combination of these agents against experimental renal ischemia-reperfusion injury....

Relaxin protects against renal ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Relaxin, a pregnancy hormone, has antiapoptotic and anti-inflammatory properties. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of relaxin on ischemia-reperfusion (IR)-induced acute kidney injury. Male rats underwent unilateral nephrectomy and contralateral renal IR (45 min of renal pedicle clamping). Rats were divided into three groups: 1) sham group, 2) IR group, and 3) IR-RLX group (rat...

Effect of renal ischemia-reperfusion on lung injury and inflammatory responses in male rat

Objective(s):Acute kidney injury (AKI), a syndrome characterized by decreased glomerular filtration, occurs in every 1 of 5 hospitalized patients.  Renal ischemia-reperfusion, one of the main causes of AKI, is of particular importance in the setting of kidney transplantation. Materials and Methods: Sixty male rats were divided into four groups including control, nephrectomy, sham surgery and re...
